O Antiphons, December 21

I invite you to walk through the “O Antiphons” this week as we lead up to the celebration of Christmas.  Take a few minutes to read and meditate on today’s antiphon – below first in Latin and then in English – and to make it your prayer of the day.

December 21
Readings: Isaiah 9:1-7 / Malachi 4:2 / Revelation 22:16

O Oriens,
splendor lucis aeternae,
et sol justitiae:
veni, et illumina
sedentes in tenebris,
et umbra mortis.

O Dayspring,
splendor of light everlasting:
Come and enlighten
those who sit in darkness
and in the shadow of death.
