Our Lady of Sorrows

Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.  As I wrote about in a earlier post, the month of September is dedicated to the Seven Sorrows of Mary.  On this feast day, I ask you to join me in seeking Our Lady’s intercession for all sorrowing mothers, uniting their sorrows with hers.

The first sorrow of Mary:  The prophecy of Simeon

Let us pray for all those mothers who have concerns for their infant children.  Hail Mary…

The second sorrow of Mary: The flight into Egypt

Let us pray for all those mothers who have been forced to leave their homes.  Hail Mary…

The third sorrow of Mary:  The loss of the Child Jesus in the temple

Let us pray for all those mothers whose children are missing.  Hail Mary…

The fourth sorrow of Mary:  The meeting of Jesus and Mary on the Way of the Cross

Let us pray for all those mothers who witness their children suffer and are powerless to help.  Hail Mary…

The fifth sorrow of Mary:  The Crucifixion

Let us pray for all those mothers who have watched their children die.  Hail Mary…

The sixth sorrow of Mary:  The taking down of the Body of Jesus from the Cross

Let us pray for all those mothers have held their lifeless children in their arms.  Hail Mary…

The seventh sorrow of Mary:  The burial of Jesus

Let us pray for all those mothers who have lost a child.  Hail Mary…

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!  Anne
